THE BEDROOM SAGA

This is how my bedroom has evolved in recent times

The bedhead was the first thing my hubby and I made together many years ago. My more modern take on a brass bed.

The chair was my Grandma's I had it repaired and covered in this yellow Warwick fabric in my blue and yellow phase. I made the curtains and pelmet.

Then I bought the mirror. The wall colour bothered me as I always felt it was too pink.

Then I made new curtains and pelmets. Still too pink.
I wanted a softer pretty look for the bed skirt.

So I painted the walls .Got rid of the pelmet and all the clutter on the walls.

Made a soft voile bedskirt. Now I'm going to have a go at making a padded bedhead and recover the most gorgeous little wing back chair ( a road side find). I have know idea what fabric to cover the chair in any suggestions ??? But I do have some velvet for the bedhead.

Time to Post

I've had to time to contemplate while looking out my window.

I've slowed a little wondering where to next.
I've read all your great blogs and couldn't find the words for mine.
So I just kept on waiting and watching.
Well now I've gotta get a move on.
I start a new job next week.
I'm quietly excited that's all I can be after my experiences at the last job.

I've been able to enjoy my roses.
They are so gorgeous.

LOST

IM LOST I DONT KNOW WHERE I'M GOING

How did I get here I don't really know.
I've lost my way.
My job finished in May . No great loss I was well and truely over it.
I took a new job in June only to find I was subjected to subtitle harrassment and bullying so I quit.
Where to now I really don't know.

The Kitchen Part 2

I really enjoy cooking so having a nice kitchen is a bonus.

This  is what replaced the old free standing stove. I love the stainless steel cooktop as its easy to keep clean. The oven is great . The rangehood is the only disappointment in the whole kitchen as it is very noisy.
The set of cupboards containing the microwave were added to the orginal kithchen they hold the small appliances. The fridge is on the other end of this bank of cupboards
This is the pantry door next to the beautiful door that leads into the hallway. On the left of the pantry door is the laundry door.

The other side of the kitchen.

The cupboards are the original.  What we did was add moulding to the doors and a deep moulding on top of the base cupboards to give the bench top extra height as the cupboards were the old 70's standard height. Gave me a backache standing at them and I'm not tall. The upper cupboards  also had  a crown moulding added. Then I went to work and sanded and  painted the cupboards.  The cupboards have had 5 coats of paint they included  2 coats of primer 2 coats of acrylic paint and 1 coat of glaze . The reason I used a glaze was that the timber I was dealing with was old and imperfect. A glaze hides problems and imperfections and is very easy to keep clean.  The cupboards have really stood up to the test of  time.

The Kitchen

This is my old kitchen in the process of demolition more than 10 years ago
I always dreamed of an English country kitchen
I wanted a timeless kitchen that I could change around with accessories as the mood suited

My old Tasmanian oak kitchen didn't fit the bill.  The upright stove had bit the dust and I hated the tile worktops
My husband is very clever and we only had $5000 to spend and more than half of that went in new appliances.

This is part of our old pergola being joined for new worktops
My husband sanded that top for many hours to make it as beautiful as it is today

The old pantry doors

This is where the old stove stood .The new stove was under bench so new cabinetry need to be made for here.
Tomorrow I'll post some photo's of what the kitchen looks like today.

The Real Me

This is me on the front cover of the latest Handmade Magazine. I have been contributing articles to this magaazine and her sister publications for around 10 years. The time has flown and I've really enjoyed the journey. I must say my projects have made the front cover of thpublication before but not my face a little scary.
